The god of warfare Ashra makes the earth tremble
and fans out over land,
Rasetsu, time the avenger, rends the oceans
toward the inevitable end.
Both submerge in a bottomless sea of blood,
and a single fate awaits all who oppose them-Death!

This title appeared in 1997 on the HYPER NEOGEO 64 console as the first 3D polygon version of SAMURAI SHODOWN, the game synonymous with 2D fighting games. Its system resembles SAMURAI SHODOWN IV's and also boasts a number of improvements in its transformation to 3D. The story concerning the new villain Yuga was also a major hit with old and new fans alike.

STORY
It all began over two decades ago...and took several years to carry out.
"Yuga the Destroyer" seized unborn children throughout the land, provided them with various mysterious skills, and then returned them to their mothers.
The babies were later brought into the world as if nothing had happened.
These infants displayed unique abilities from infancy and were called child gods by some, child demons by others. Over the subsequent decades, they grew to become extremely gifted children, ending up as the true movers and shakers of their generation.
Then one day "Yuga the Destroyer" suddenly appeared before them.
He came to show these individuals who remembered nothing of him...a puppet show.
And those who saw this performance remembered:
the missions they were given before they came into this world...

SYSTEM
[RAGE EXPLOSION]
Push the A, B & C buttons together when the Rage Gauge hits MAX to activate the Rage Explosion. This turns the player character completely invincible and can make attacks opponents cannot guard against. Once activated the Rage Gauge becomes the Explosion Gauge and the Rage Explosion lasts until it runs out. In addition to the Rage MAX effects, the Rage Explosion lets you use Fatal Flash moves, and the S-C-S gauge remains active while the Stamina Gauge remains full. The game countdown (remaining round time) also stops. Using Secret Methods of Mayhem here uses a certain amount of Explosion Gauge energy.
The S-C-S gauge gradually drops with each attack. When the Rage Explosion ends, the Rage Gauge is used up and the Rage Gauge-related systems listed below can no longer be used.

[FATAL FLASH]
Push the B, C & D (or A, B & C) buttons simultaneously during a Rage Explosion to use a mighty single-blow "Fatal Flash" attack.
Using a Fatal Flash attack exhausts a lot of Explosion Gauge energy, and the Rage Explosion ends when it strikes an opponent. The more energy in the Explosion Gauge, the stronger the strength of the attack will be.
